Kiralau, also known as Kira, is one of the 3 point-of-view characters in Emberhawk—the “starving trapper.” She is the main character of the whole Katrosi Revolution series, and her adventure begins on her father’s cattle ranch and cherry orchard, which has been stricken with drought and beset by hungry magical beasts.

Don’t let her looks fool you—although Kira might appear to be just a cute farm girl, she’s a skilled trapper with a passion for knowledge. Secretly educating herself with tribal scrolls her mother forbade, Kira has a mind for gadgets and innovation while most of her neighbors are illiterate.

When Kira accidentally traps an enemy soldier, she is swept into the ominous Gnarled Wood—and the only path home is with the enemy she just shot.

Kira’s theme song is Stronger Than You Think by Fireflight.

Her full name, Kiralau, name means “life flower” in the Ancient language on Alani, so I thought it fitting to give her a tiger lily. She’s fragile yet fierce like that.
